I know that this episode has mixed reviews: fangirls are squealing, nay-sayers are...nay saying, but I have to give it props regardless. I think right now, I want to be an optimist with this show. Because, and totally excuse me if I start sounding pretentious, I've loved a lot of shows (comes with being a hopeless TV addict) and I've watched a lot of shows from the beginning of their runs, and I've seen a lot of them turn bad, or into outright dreck. The fact that House could have a season as bad as last season and still manage what they're doing with this season? Proves that there's more life left than what people are giving it credit for. I don't know if there's a "sophomore slump" for tv shows, like with movie sequels or music albums, but usually a show peaks and then every season afterward just gets worse and worse. House's worst season was the last one and this one's getting steadily better. By comparison of course, because there's obviously a lot of things wrong with it right now, but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt because I'm still enthralled, I still love where it could go. Most of all, I love the way they're working with House and Wilson so much. I almost hate to say that because that really just makes it sound like I watch it for the slashy overtones, but I also know that the way they're treating the friendship this season is wonderfully written, and incredibly well acted. Robert Sean Leonard is just...as spot on of a character in this role as he could possibly be (though I was totally noticing his theater acting background in some of the things he did this episode, anyone else?). I mean, this show struck gold when they casted him and Hugh Laurie opposite each other. Anyway, I did like this episode and I'm happy to tune in each week, especially if we get such great House and Wilson stuff to offset the (terribly written and concieved) Huddy.

House/Wilson, whether i ship it or not, is and always will be the backbone of the show. i love their interaction, their banter, their wonderful chemistry. it feels so much more believable and comfortable than the 'Huddy' crap they've been giving us. in that respect, the show is starting to feel a little bit fanficcy. i really wish they'd drop it already, but i also want to see how they play it out. so far, i'm not very impressed. and i like that ship. it was just so much more appealing back in season 3, and i think they're trying to backpedal and connect with a story line that ended 3 seasons ago. too little too late. it makes me sad, but i have a lot of hope for the rest of the season regarding other things.
i really enjoyed last night's episode, despite the super awkward dance scene. am i the only one who feels like the directing wasn't all that great? even Hugh's performance in that scene, as wonderful as he always is, felt forced and unnatural. idk. i just really wanted that to work and it didn't and now i just want Huddy to go away for a bit.
all the House/Wilson bits were wonderful. this might be my favourite episode of season 6 regarding those two. and yeah, it's all down to Hugh and RSL being fantastic actors with theatre experience. RSL has slightly MORE experience, though, and yeah...you can totally pick that up in just about everything he does. that 'drugged' scene was brilliant. and i know i'm just perving now, but Wilson needs to be pantsless way more in the future. every episode would be sufficient, though i would like to see them work it into every Wilson scene, lolol. ;)
god i just wrote you a novel in this comment! oops. :-x

I agree, the chemistry between House and Cuddy was there (and I can admit this even as a diehard House/Wilson shipper) back several seasons ago, but the way the characters have developed has made it null and void. One reviewer says that the writers obviously gave Cuddy all these traits that were supposed to neutralize her "Powerful Single Woman with a Career" aspects so that she'd be more (stereotypically) "right for a romance", but instead they've kind of made her this whiny pathetic person that House doesn't (or at least shouldn't) be interested in. And besides, the way House treated Cuddy, and the way he still treats her, and everyone else who isn't Wilson, kind of puts all these people beneath him, he doesn't think very highly of them and I can't see House with someone who isn't his equal. And the only person who I see as his equal is Wilson.
I think if the directing was off (this show actually does a great job of directing usually) is because the whole storyline with Cuddy is forced and unnatural.
RSL is just ridiculously theater in some ways, but I kind of love him more for it. For some reason it makes Wilson more genuine than the other characters. I pretty much believe everything Wilson says or does, and I don't always feel like that with the other characters. That just means RSL has this character down.
But he has such pale skinny legs! XD Haha, love RSL as I do, him pantless makes me laugh...doesn't mean I don't want to see it more often though, hehe.
